converting a pool into a productive garden

Some of my gardening background:
I have lived in this house with my parents and various brothers, sisters, inlaws, nieces and nephews who have come and gone and continue to come and go. When we moved in, the house had an above ground pool and at 15 I was pretty excited to have a pool. However, as time went on, the pool got used less and less, and I would rather swim in the ocean anyday rather than yukky cholrinated water. So finally, last year, I got the all clear to demolish to pool in order to set up my dream: a productive sunny vegetable garden. I had attempted to grow veggies in various other spots but had no real success, I had possum problems and sun issues.

I began by syphoning the water out of the pool and then destruction began!

10 tonnes of crushed sandstone and about 6 tonnes of soil later...I could finally begin planting and designing my new garden.

TA-DA!
It was a lot of hard work, however, it was totally worth it. I have used a lot of the recycled goods in my garden which is not only great for the budget, the environment but it also adds a lot of charm.
